Norit O.R.S.
Application
Norit ORS is a mixture of salts and sugar designed to maintain a good state of hydration. This nutritional supplement can be given to both adults, children, and babies.
Composition
Each sachet contains: glucose (water-free) 2.7 g, sodium citrate 580 mg, sodium chloride 520 mg, potassium chloride 300 mg and aroma (citrus) 0.04 g.
Instructions for use
Preparation and dosage (standard)
Dissolve the contents of one sachet in 200 ml drinking water. If the water is not clean, boil it first and let it cool. Stir well.
The prepared solution contains glucose 75 mmol/l, sodium 75 mmol/l, chloride 65 mmol/l, potassium 20 mmol/l and citrate 10 mmol/l.
Babies and children up to 20 kg: 10-20 ml solution per kilogram bodyweight per hour until improvement is noticeable.
For example:
Adults and children over 20 kg: 200 ml solution until symptoms improve.

Preparation and dosage for intensive sporting activities
Dissolve the contents of one sachet in one litre drinking water. Drink 500 ml water before starting and then drink 200–300 ml of solution every half hour during the intensive period of activity. The prepared solution contains glucose 15 mmol/l, sodium 15 mmol/l, chloride 13 mmol/l, potassium 4 mmol/l and citrate 2 mmol/l.
Warning
Diabetics should take account of the fact that Norit ORS contains 2.7 g glucose (water-free). People following a low-salt diet should take account of the fact that Norit ORS contains sodium salts. Norit ORS should not be taken by people with kidney problems, blood in the stools, or blockages of the intestinal tract.
