Fluimucil Drink Forte
Application
For conditions in which phlegm makes coughing difficult, such as bronchitis (infection of the mucus membranes of the bronchus), asthma, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, and following bronchiectomy (removal of part of the lung). The active ingredient, acetylcysteine, breaks down tough, sticky, mucus so that it becomes more fluid and can be coughed up more easily. Acetylcysteine is derived from the naturally occurring amino acid cysteine, which is used in the synthesis of glutathione. Glutathione scavenges free radicals. Use of acetylcysteine can remedy glutathione deficiency.
Composition
Active ingredient: acetylcysteine. Fluimucil Drink Forte contains 40 mg acetylcysteine per ml. Other ingredients: methylparahydroxybenzoate (E218), propylparahydroxybenzoate (E216), disodiumedetate, sodiumcarboxymethylcellulose (E466), sodium saccharine (E954), grenadine flavour, strawberry flavour (contains propylene glycol and glycerol triacetate (E1518)), sorbitol (E420), sodium hydroxide (E524) and purified water.
Instructions for use
Adults: One measuring cup of 15 ml (=600 mg), once a day
Children from over 7 years : One measuring cup of 5 ml (=200 mg), three times a day.
Weak and elderly people are advised to take the dosage in the morning. Shake bottle before use. Pour dosage into measuring cup and take immediately. Do not use Fluimucil 40 mg/ml Drink Forte for more than 14 days without consulting your GP.
Keep Fluimucil 40 mg/ml Drink Forte out of reach of children. Do not freeze or store in a refrigerator. Keep Fluimucil 40 mg/ml Drink Forte in the original packing. After opening, the product will keep for 15 days if not kept above 25ºC.
Warning
Fluimucil Drink Forte 40 mg/ml can, as far as is known, be safely taken during pregnancy and breast feeding, when used in accordance with the dosage instructions.
Do not use Fluimucil 40 mg/ml Drink Forte if you are hypersensitive to acetylcysteine or one of the other ingredients.
Be extra careful:
- If you suffer from stomach ulcers, as Fluimucil 40 mg/ml Drink Forte can irritate your stomach.
- Fluimucil 40 mg/ml Drink Forte contains derived parahydroxybenzoates which can cause allergic reactions. These reactions may occur some time after ingestion.
- If your GP has told you to avoid taking certain sugars please contact your GP before using this medicine.
- If you are on a low-sodium diet, because Fluimucil 40 mg/ml Drink Forte contains 6.6 mg sodium per ml drink, and the recommended daily dosage contains 99 mg sodium.
Do not mix Fluimucil 40 mg/ml Drink Forte with antibiotics. Taking in succession is allowed.
Fluimucil 40 mg/ml Drink Forte is sugar free and can also be used by diabetics. Read the instructions before use. Consult your GP or pharmacist before taking this medicine
