History

Vemedia B.V. was established on 19 April 1961 by Philips Duphar and Gist Brocades and started as a company that was active in the veterinary field.

On 1 November 1983 Solvay Pharmaceuticals B.V. ranged its activities in the field of self-care drugs (OTC products), healthcare products and pesticides under this company, after having acquired them from Duphar and Kalichemie.

On 16 September 2002 Solvay Pharmaceuticals B.V. sold the company to Vemedia Pharma.

As of 14 December 2006 Vemedia has acquired the Dutch company Distributie Care B.V. This company was established in 1991 and is a sales and marketing organisation for brands in the food supplement market. The range consists of brands which all are market leader or have a significant market share in their categories. Distributie Care B.V. has in its portfolio well-known brand names such as Melatomatine, Glucon Combi, Omega Combi, Prosta Totaal and Garlic Vitaal.

At the moment Vemedia is one of the top three companies that are active in the field of self-care drugs, healthcare products and pesticides. Their product portfolio is a mix of both own brands and brands of several nationally and internationally renowned pharmaceutical companies.

Besides their own products such as Dagravit, Valdispert, Sleepzz, Rhino, Roxasect, Evasin, LacPure, Witte Kruis and Totaforte. Vemedia also markets third party products such as: Fluimucil, Footner, Norit, Sebamed, Otalgan, Dentinox, BeCOOL, Agiolax, Echinacin, Duphalac and Autan.
